Update from the Captain

December 2025

Dear Nathan,

We warmly embraced our 250 new members from Cranbourne Golf Club earlier this week. Please ensure you give them our normal generous Huntingdale welcome. These new members have not had a chance to see our course and we are in the midst of organising this for later in December, prior to Christmas. Unfortunately, our initial plans were curtailed by the Airbus recall delaying Mike Cocking's arrival back to Melbourne. We will update our new members once details are finalised.

This week we will enjoy the Crown Australian Open at Royal Melbourne. It is worth highlighting that this event is beaming the Melbourne Sandbelt around the world. Our Club works closely with the other Melbourne Sandbelt clubs and Visit Victoria to promote our region around the world. Next year we will also welcome guests to our Club whilst this is being played at Kingston Heath (2026). Good luck to Royal Melbourne this week as it hosts some of the world's best. I was fortunate enough to attend the official gala dinner where Rory mentioned our Club four times!

Supporting the event are many of our members who are marshalling or performing other roles for the event. Huntingdale has yet again has shown it's great tournament spirit by getting behind the event. Our members can be spotted on the magnificent 11th hole of the composite course (17 West).

For those of you unable to make our last course walk, I have provided a link below to a video of the event, enjoy! Also below is our annual invite for you to contribute to the Staff Gratuity fund, as tipping throughout the year is not allowed at the Club. Finally I provide an update on our practice area open times.

The latest course walk on 26 November had a fantastic turnout - it was a pleasure to see so many members together once again during the walk and the subsequent AGM and Wine & Dine dinner.

In the video, Mike Cocking takes you along the same path that was covered in the walk, highlighting many of the key changes that were made on the front nine and insights into how you may play them when the course reopens on 31 January 2026.

Staff Gratuity Fund

Huntingdale is fortunate to have a loyal and dedicated team who consistently deliver outstanding service to our Members and guests. This year, our staff have once again gone above and beyond taking on extra duties and adapting to change with ease. Their commitment and flexibility make a real difference to the Club experience.

As direct tipping is not permitted, Members who wish to recognise the team’s efforts are invited to contribute to the Staff Gratuity Fund, which supports staff across administration, house, golf shop, and course (excluding senior management). Contributions can be made via the attached form, charged to your account, by bank transfer or credit card, or placed in the box at the bar or handed/emailed to the office. Your generosity will be greatly appreciated by our staff, whose dedication continues to make Huntingdale such a special place.

Practice Facilities

Chipping Green

This past Monday we were excited to open the eastern chipping green - yet another step towards our opening at the end of January. Many members have been down this week to practice and enjoy the area in addition to their time on the practice fairway and practice putting green. Please remember to take care of this area as you would the golf course by repairing divots and pitch marks.

As you'll see in the photo, some of our new course furniture is making its debut in the area. This is a glimpse of the quality and presentation we can look forward to when the course reopens.

Practice Fairway Hours

We have reviewed the hours of the practice fairway, and are pleased to be able to confirm that the practice fairway will be open for the following hours:

Monday to Saturday
9:00am - 5:30pm (last bucket at 5:00pm)

Sunday
9:00am - 4:30pm (last bucket at 4:00pm)

This extension will give greater opportunity for members to use the facility and will continue to be reviewed for additional opportunities to extend until the course reopens.
