Course Works Update

Despite the rain, it was a very rewarding week on the work site, with over 4,000m2 of turf laid on tees and green surrounds.  This turf has all been repurposed from its original place on the old 12th and 13th holes (new 15th and 16th) and moved to the new 12th and 18th (tees and green surrounds).  Turfing this way is very efficient and will become a common practice as the project moves into the southern end.

As we advance works, it has now become necessary to close the chipping and bunker practice area on the old 11th hole , effective from this Monday 22 April.  However, the Practice Chipping green will remain open for some time and will be available for members and our various clinics until it too is redeveloped later in the project.

Works in the past week are summarized below:

12th Hole (Old 18th)

  • Tee complex turfed
  • Green surround turfed

14th Hole (Old 11th)

  • Turf harvested from fairway, this turf was used on the new 12th and 18th tees

This area is open for chipping and bunker practice only.  It will be fully closed beginning Monday (22/4).

15th Hole (Old 12th)

  • Irrigation marked out
  • Tee turf stripped
  • Green and bunker outlet drainage commenced

The teeing area is now completely stripped.  Works on this hole continue around the green.

16th Hole (Old 13th)

  • Turf harvested off fairway for use on 12th and 18th tees
  • Rough green shaping commenced

More turf being stripped off the old 13th.  A valuable asset to have such high quality turf.

18th hole (old Practice Fairway)

  • Tee complex turfed
  • Green surround turfed
